Brantleys married 70 years

Robert Lee and Elma Ruth Brantley, Kokomo, are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with family.
Robert and the former Elma Ruth Morris were married Aug. 13, 1949, in First Church of the Nazarene, Kokomo, by the Rev. D.R. Morris, father of the bride. The families had known each other, but the couple first met each other when Elma came home from college for the weekend and went to Ray's Drive-in for Cokes with friends. Robert came to Ray's after work with friends.
Robert retired from Chrysler as a supervisor and was a real estate broker and gardener. Elma is a retired real estate broker, tax preparer and notary.
Their children are Dennis Wayne Brantley (Bobbie, deceased 2017), Kokomo; Rebecca Jo Short (Robert), Kokomo; and Patricia Lee Brantley, who passed away in 1970. They have four grandchildren, Jamey Brantley (deceased 2012), Nicholas (Alison) Brantley, Nathan (Ashley) Short, and Noah (Kristi) Short, and 18 great-grandchildren.
